Sven Ratzke hit the Spiegeltent stage on Tuesday and Wednesday night last week as part of the Brisbane Festival, bringing to life the legend, David Bowie, in his cabaret show Starman. He paid tribute to Bowie’s hits, embodied his many personas and took command of an audience slightly unsure of what to expect.
“It is terrifying… the world closes down to this pin prick and then there is like this beeeeep ringing in your ears. The first time I did it I remember thinking I was going to vomit and shit myself at the same time… but it is such a rush and I didn’t die so I went back.”

A night at the theatre is as much about the performers giving to the audience, as it is about the audience being open to the experience and the change offered by the journey on stage.
The stage is set and the players are ready for a battle between Brisbane’s best improvisers. This Sunday night Metro Arts will house the clash, with only one question remaining… who will be crowned the Maestro of the stage?
