Bella Brown: Behind the Runway

Bella Brown: Behind the Runway

| On 06, May 2018

Everyone at some point in their life thinks about what it would like to strut down a runway, cameras flashing from every direction, designers critiquing your outfit from head to toe; an exciting buzz in the atmosphere from the audience who are on the edge of their seats, wondering what their favourite label is showing for their new season. 18 year old Brisbane model Bella Brown was in fact one of those people, but never in a million years did she think she would one day be strutting down the runway for high fashion brands such as Alice McCALL, Sass and Bide, Chanel, Aje, Toni Maticevski and many more.

Bella was scouted by IMG at the young age of 13, “I was actually scouted at the Royal Brisbane Show, I was walking along with my best friend and this lady gave me her card and we called her the next day”. From being scouted, her first major gig was at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2016 in Sydney. From there it only went up for Bella, since then she has shot for major magazines such as Elle Australia, Marie Claire Australia and Vogue Australia.

While Bella has experienced so many surreal shows and amazing shoots, one of her favourite experience’s was opening for Chanel in Melbourne, “It was so professional and the show has such a good vibe. Opening that show was honestly such an amazing opportunity and I would happily do it 10000x times over”.

Bella’s rise to fashion stardom hasn’t restricted her to just Australia. Bella has travelled the world shooting for different fashion labels and magazines. “I travelled off the coast of Africa to a place called Boa Vista, the beaches were beautiful! Every single part of the experience was amazing and I wish I could go back!”. Bella also had the surreal opportunity to travel to Fiji and take part in an editorial shoot for Maria Claire Australia.

When asked which she preferred, runway shows or fashion shoots, Bella explained that she prefers runway shows. “They are quick and easy and I love the vibe before and after the show! There is such good energy and everyone is so hyped. It’s always very stressful before the show, everyone is worrying about what could go wrong. It’s quite a frantic scene but it’s always a good vibe and everyone is really excited.”

In regards to if anything in her life has changed since starting modelling, Bella goes on to say “If I’m being honest, I have become a bit more self-conscious. I am more worried about my size and other aspects of my body. While that is the case, I have also become a lot more confident with talking to people. Modelling has given me the opportunity to meet the most amazing people, the photographers are super dope and the makeup artists are always so nice and caring. I guess sometimes you don’t meet the nicest people, but I guess that’s the hard part. In my opinion not every part of being a model is fabulous, sometimes you love it and sometimes you don’t. It can be a really hard industry, you just need to be fully committed in order to enjoy every part of it.

Bella Brown is taking the fashion world by storm and this is just the beginning. She brings a unique flair to the runway that we hope to see more of in the future. With her outgoing and humorous nature, there is no doubt that we will be seeing much more of Bella in the years to come.
