Diet Prada: A Fashion Revolution
Alice White | On 11, Jun 2018
People knocking each other off lol. 6 words which would define the revolution that is Diet Prada.
Now without context you’re probably thinking “What are you on about Alice?, Diet Prada?”. Diet Prada is basically Instagram’s number one fashion source to finding out who copied who in the fashion industry. Diet Prada has made a name for itself by racking up around 505,000 followers on Instagram for calling out designers who steal designs from other brands. Diet Prada has made such an impact in recent times with industry power players like Naomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Jordan Barrett and Pat McGrath all actively following the account. Prada has also since invited the two (now only recently identified) creators, Tony Liu and Lindsey Schuyler, backstage for their recent runway show.

Their humorous take on calling out industry front runners is all about the appeal for this insanely popular account. In the past, Diet Prada is known for calling out Kim Kardashian for her blatant copy of iconic fashion brands Comme Des Garçons and Vetements for her Kids Supply brand. While Kim ‘claimed’ she was only paying homage to the iconic brands, she soon announced after the controversy that she would be donating all the proceeds of those two garments to charity….
With controversy comes ‘haters’ with brands like Dolce and Gabbana and Loewe all lining up to give Diet Prada a ‘knuckle sandwich’ it seems.. I guess you can’t be liked by everyone. From brands trying to clarify their wrongdoings to designers simply pulling their products, Diet Prada leaves no leaf unturned. Not only does Diet Prada call out copycat tactics, they also shine a light on racial discrimination, lack of model diversity and cultural appropriation. In an industry where you rarely see confrontation, it’s nice to see people blow everything out of the water every once in a while.
Keep doing you Diet Prada.
