Start your spring seafood diet by the river at River Quay Fish

Start your spring seafood diet by the river at River Quay Fish

Take a scenic walk through South Bank Parklands down to River Quay Fish and let this recently opened seafood restaurant tantalise your piscatorial cravings.

Opened mid September and taking over the space left by Cove Bar & Dining, River Quay Fish’s menu aims to build on the traditional Australian fish and chips. Available for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can find a range of dishes from chargrilled steaks to Singaporean style Blue Swimmer Crab. Coffee, juice, and alcoholic beverages are also available to enjoy with your meal in the breezy riverside setting.

Their open seating plan is perfect to enjoy the riverfront breeze and spring sun, and with a fantastic river view, is the perfect location for a Friday afternoon nibble or weekend lazy lunch. River Quay Fish also provides a takeaway menu for those who prefer an al fresco experience down on the River Quay Green in front of the restaurant. This is definitely an idea to consider if you want a no fuss picnic on the grass as things start to warm up in the lead up to another glorious Brisbane summer.

The seafood linguine came with plenty of seafood- prawns were fragrantly grilled and salted, pipis, squid and fish were all thrown together with capers, red onions, olive oil, dried cherry tomatoes, and rocket. It was well balanced, fresh and delicious.

Dessert options include a candied orange dark chocolate tart, which came with clotted cream, white chocolate, and macadamia ice cream. The macadamia ice cream was marvellous and the dark chocolate was rich, a nice contrast with the zesty orange.

With such a great location, the pleasant sense of community was strong with people walking their dogs, riding their bicycles with their kids, and soaking up some vitamin on the lush green grass of the river bank. This is definitely a place you would want to bring friends, or that special someone for a taste of serenity in one of Brisbane’s prime dining locations.
