Theatre is Anywhere in 2014

Brisbane’s acclaimed Anywhere Festival is getting ready for an even bigger and better year in 2014 and you can be a part of it.
Voted one of the ‘Top Nine International Festivals You Must See’ by QANTAS Traveller magazine, the Festival sets out to prove that performance art can be, and indeed should be, enjoyed anywhere. It’s a concept encapsulated by a simple motto: Theatrical excellence doesn’t need a theatre.
2014 marks the first time the Anywhere Festival will be fully curated. Organisers says the shift towards a more formalised event will provide a better theatrical experience for all involved.
As part of that process, a call has been put out for talented creative to submit performance ideas. The only limit is your imagination (oh, and of course, your venue cannot be a theatre). Submitting your Expression of Interest is easy: simply fill out the online form outlining the ‘What’, ‘Where’ and ‘Why’ of your idea by the 24th of December.
To show your commitment to the project, a $20 EOI fee does apply. As the organiser’s put it, “…we figure if you can forgo five $4 coffees, then you’re serious.”
Successful applicants will be notified of their inclusion in the 2014 Anywhere Festival no later than 14th January 2014.
Next year’s event will run from the 7th through to the 18th of May 2014.
The folks behind the Anywhere Festival are also on the hunt for interesting and unique venues eager to host a special performance (or two) next year. Past locations have included the State Library of Queensland and Reverse Garbage; if you own (or know of) a great place to put on a play, get in touch via the online form and be part of something truly unique.
