4 Easy NYE Party Foods

No one likes spending New Year’s Day cleaning up from the previous night’s frivolities so we’ve put together a spread of simple, mess free recipes that are revolutionising the reputation of these pesky parties.

Most people grimace at the thought of hosting a New Year’s Eve party, continuously vowing “never again” after each chaotic experience. However, this year is your opportunity to host a gathering that won’t leave a bad taste in your mouth (when it comes to the menu at least).

These four easy recipes will significantly simplify (and glorify) your hosting duties. The idiot-proof methods and the minimal cleaning guarantee a stress-free and enjoyable NYE party.


Easy Pesto Mushrooms (Serves 8)

Preheat your oven to 180°. Blend a bunch of coriander, half a cup of olive oil, half a cup of Parmesan cheese, half a cup of macadamia nuts and 3 peeled cloves of garlic. Hey Presto – there’s your pesto! Now spoon into approximately 16 button mushrooms and bake them for 10-15 minutes (the less time they’re in the easier they are to serve).

Easy Warm Artichoke Dip
(Serves 4)

Preheat your oven to 180°. Mix 1 cup of mayonnaise, 1 cup of grated Parmesan and 400g of chopped, tinned unmarinated artichokes. Transfer into a ceramic ovenproof dish and bake until golden brown (about 15 minutes). Serve with bread.

Easy Hummus
(Serves 4-8)

Drain a 400g tin of chickpeas, and put the juices aside. Process with olive oil, a quarter of the chickpea liquid, olive oil*, 1 clove of garlic, juice of half a lemon and 1-2 tablespoons of hulled tahini. The recipe can be modified to taste. Serve with any dipping choices you fancy.
*Modify the ratio depending on how healthy you want your hummus – add more chickpea liquid if you want healthier hummus, or add more olive oil for maximum flavour.

Easy Pear and Blue Cheese Bites
(Serves 12)

Preheat your oven to 180°. Place 24 tartlet shells onto a baking tray. Fill them with a teaspoon of chopped pear and a thick slice of blue cheese. Top with chopped roasted almonds. Bake for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown.
