5 Must-Haves for Your Winter Wardrobe

Winter is coming…
Winter in Brisbane is generally not like any other city. There can be days of a sunny 25 degrees, and days of a 10 degree cool breeze. This means for Brisbane fashion, it’s really all about layering so that when that weather changes, or the day heats up/cools down, that you are prepared.
We give you our top five items for a winter wardrobe that is ready for any occasion.
(1) Lack of Colour Hat
Not only will it protect you in the sun (because yes you can still go to the beach here in winter), but due to its structured wool, will still keep your head warm when the wind starts to blow. It’s the Brisbane alternative to a beanie, and a lot better looking.
(2) Denim Jacket
Whether you’re the type of person that goes for a black wool coat, a khaki parka, or a beige trench – your newest addition to the jacket wardrobe should be denim. Cameo, Nobody Denim and Cheap Monday are the go to.
(3) Oversized scarf
Last season it was all about the ‘snood’ scarf, but this winter there is a more and more of the oversized scarf in basic prints (stripes, tartan). This is a great way to add another layer to your outfit and easily removed if the weather changes.
(4) The Culotte
It’s a fun alternative to the jean, and just gives a different look for the winter season. Culottes look great with some heeled boots and a basic t shirt. My favourite slouch look is culottes teamed with an oversized rolled neck jumper. It’s both edgy and comfortable. Perfect.
Of course winter is always about monochrome – black, white and grey – but this winter try something different and throw a splash of colour in the mix. Take our tip of layering and have one layer that speaks that little bit louder and takes your outfit out of that depressing, ‘I’m cold and it’s winter’ tone.
