The 6 Best Spots to see RiverFire this year
Tess Church | On 21, Sep 2016
RiverFire comes and goes every year as a celebration to close the Brisbane Festival with a bang.
However, the downside to a massive event like RiverFire is trying to find the perfect vantage point to see the spectacular fireworks. This can result in waiting all day for those crackers to go off. But don’t fret, The Creative Issue has you covered, as we investigate the best 6 spots for RiverFire this year!
The Clem Jones Promenade
To find a good spot for RiverFire at the Clem Jones Promenade you will need to camp out for a few hours. But with a whole kilometre of paving and parks, it’s worth getting there early with a picnic blanket and snacks to wait for the exciting event.
This spot is right near the Goodwill Bridge, giving you the perfect vantage point for amazing pictures. The River Quay Green is a grassy patch surrounded by restaurants to keep you full throughout the day and night – though it’s worth bringing a hat and sunscreen.
Arcadia – The Cultural Forecourt
Arcadia is also located right in the hustle and bustle of the best vantage points. Directly next to the BRISBANE sign, this spot will have pop-up vendors and outdoor bars perfect for watching the sun going down before the fireworks. This spot is expected to be very busy – so make sure you get there early!
If you don’t want to be in amongst the crowds in the CBD, Mt Coot-tha is a great option. You probably won’t be able to hear the pops and bangs of the fireworks but as the area is 287 metres above sea level, the view will still prove spectacular.
Coorparoo is another good spot if you don’t want to be right in the middle of it all. Every year residents sit out on their streets to admire the view. The elevated side of Old Cleveland Road is a popular spot to see the fireworks.
From one homebody to another, the best view in the house will literally be in your house. Cuddling up in the comfort of your own home and watching the fireworks on TV is a care-free option. No worrying about transport, crowds and waiting out all day!
