70's Summer Lovin'

70’s Summer Lovin’

| On 06, Jan 2015

The seventies can be remembered for it’s funky guitar-tinged tunes, centre-parted hair and of course, fashions of extravagant proportions. This summer, we are harking back to our disco-dancer ancestors and taking a leaf out of their ever-so-diverse style books.

Summer 2015 fashion shows were littered with models draped in rainbow-embroidered lace, tan coloured fringing, mustard peacoats vintage patchwork quilting, cheesecloth crop tops, khaki accents and, of course, the embodiment of the era, flared pants.

Emilio Pucci completed the seventies revival by playing endless Fleetwood Mac hits (Am I in heaven?).

As fun and carefree as it sounds, seventies dressing requires not only imagination, but also discipline when it comes to playing with proportions and silhouettes. Make like models on the Prada catwalk and pair your flared mustard trousers with a delicate, floaty crops and clunky, wooden platforms. Gucci-fy your look by adding an effortlessly low-slung belt to your billowy summer dress. Or borrow from Emilio Pucci and balance out a plunging crochet mini with thigh high tan suede boots.
