Annalisse Designs – In Preparation for MBFF 2019
Emily Gugenberger

With the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival fast approaching, so to is The Fanatuzzo Next Gen Group Show, where we will get to witness the latest innovative work from Brisbane’s emerging designers. Excited to return to the festival and the Next Gen show this year is Brisbane based designer, Annalisse Designs!

This rising star has been featured at Brisbane Fashion Month and the Ekka Fashion Parade, and prides her garments on being 100% locally made, how amazing is that! As Annalisse waits in anticipation to see her designs come to life on the runway, we had a chat about her Spring/Summer 19 collection, development as a designer and her future plans.

TCI: What can audiences expect from your SS19 R.E.M collection?
Annalisse: Colour and texture! We have taken interesting fabrics – lots of natural fibres, and crafted them into fashion forward pieces that are extremely comfortable to wear. The collection is called R.E.M because we are huge believers in following your dreams, and believing in yourself!

TCI: You showcased at MBFF in 2018, has your aesthetic or designs developed or evolved since?
Annalisse: It’s interesting seeing how our customers put the collection together themselves – how they styled and wore the garments. It gave us confidence to design pieces that we know will be wearable and edgy, but will stand the test of time in any wardrobe. We also consider how our customers live – so having cool, natural fabrics are important, along with pieces that travel easily.

TCI: What are you most looking forward to about MBFF 2019?
Annalisse: We can’t wait to see how this collection will come to life on the catwalk – you have a vision and idea’s, but it exudes a whole extra energy under the bright lights and excitement of the Mercedes Benz show! The production team does an amazing job to bring such an iconic fashion event to life – and to keep reinventing the experience each year. We are super excited about the new location – Howard Smith Wharves is quickly becoming a loved destination to visit for the best food, the best venues and the best views!

TCI: What are your plans for Annalisse Designs after MBFF?
Annalisse: After MBFF, we will have an official launch at our store in Sandgate (Sweet Georgia Boutique) and release the collection in store and online. Our clothing and jewellery collections (Annalisse Designs + By The C Jewellery) are 100% Made In Brisbane and we are so proud of this! As we work locally, we can gauge what customers are loving, and tailor our production right through Spring into Summer. We will also start planning fabrics and styles for our AW2020 Collection. There is always something new and exciting happening in fashion to keep us wanting more!

After learning about the inspiring message behind Annalisse Designs S/S19 collection and seeing a teaser of her inventive designs I can’t wait to see her collection walk down the runway!
