If there’s one word that can describe a Vera Blue performance, it’s mesmerising. Taking to the stage of Fortitude Valley’s The Tivoli, Vera encapsulated the spirit and zest of Perennial (2017) and her more recent release, Lady Powers, live onstage.
Growing up playing in a lot of bands in high school, Sam Thomlinson had an obsession with the process of recording, from drum looping samples to tracking his own guitar work, Sam learned how to record by recreating and recording other artists’ work.

This month saw the return of Las Vegas rock band, The Killers, to Australian stadium stages for the first time in 11 years. Opening to the packed out Entertainment Centre, with their 2004 classic, Mr Brightside, the band proved they were here to perform a show worth the wait.
“It’ll be interesting to see what the response is! It’s definitely the most personal songs that we’ve released, or the most personal to me, writing the lyrics. I wouldn’t say that my experience is uncommon, taking this sort of uncommon challenge. I think a lot of the things I’m writing about, are quite common to a lot of people.”
