Barber Girl graces Brisbane

Barber Girl graces Brisbane

Farewell dead ends and forking out an excessive dollar figure for a hair cut. Barber Girl has landed in Bulimba to change the face of women’s salons.

Owners Rachelle Pelacas and her husband Steve have been in the weave game for a number of years, with great success in Paddington at their men’s barber, The Men’s Lounge.

“For years we had women coming into [The Men’s Lounge] asking why they couldn’t get a cut, and why they had to go to a salon and pay $100,” Rachelle says.

Rachelle, who has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from QUT, sympathises with all the busy mums, Uni students and budget conscious females who don’t have the time to book in an appointment, and then fork out a fortune for a simple tidy up.

“You can walk in here without an appointment. It’s a different vibe, you can come in for a cider and a trim and then you can leave. It’s not a stuffy salon where you’re caped up waiting for an apprentice to wash your hair and then waiting around for a stylist to come over.”

Barber Girl’s menu includes a ‘split enz mendz’ which won’t leave you crying over how much the hairdresser cut off and costs a mere $30.

“I wanted to do something different than what every other salon is doing,” says Rachelle, “We specialise in style cuts for girls. We do a lot of side sweeps, shaves, under cuts and tracks.”

And of course the price is unbeatable.

You can also enjoy and purchase Rachelle’s beautiful artwork, decorating the walls of the chic salon.
