BIGSOUND 2019 Shares New Venue + Opens Artist Applications

BIGSOUND 2019 Shares New Venue + Opens Artist Applications

With the year well and truely underway, it’s time to start thinking about one of Brisbane’s standout arts events, BIGSOUND.

As per tradition, BIGSOUND will see industry members, artists, and music-lovers unite to celebrate from September 3-6 in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley Live Music Precinct.

This year’s theme was recently revealed as ‘The Artist As CEO’. The Southern Hemisphere’s biggest new live music party aims to acknowledge the reality of the industry for artists, who “are now truly in the centre of the industry, making empowered creative and business choices around their music.”

Alongside the theme announcement, BIGSOUND shared more big news; its conference hub will be found at Cloudland this year, after formerly being held at the Judith Wright Centre.

“Over the years, BIGSOUND has changed, with networking, workshops and other events becoming far more integral to the event, so making the move to Cloudland will give more programming flexibility as well as bringing the conference events closer to the live music that is at the heart of BIGSOUND” says BIGSOUND Executive Programmer, Maggie Collins.

Artists should note that applications are now open for BIGSOUND, arguably one of the states most sought after slots. Alumni include the likes of Flume, Gang of Youths, Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana and Rufus Du Sol, just to name a few. Find out more about the application process here. Applications close midnight AEST on 2 May.
