| On 15, May 2017

BIGSOUND Festival and Conference has just announced its massive first list of speakers, as well as a new tech and visual arts program.

Archie Roach and Tina Arena will be bringing their stories of success in the Australian music industry to BIGSOUND 2017. They will be among an impressive pool of talent, including Quentin Tarentino’s music supervisor, Mary Ramos, Domino Recording Company’s Peter Berard, ATC Lives’ Isla Angus, and D Music Marketing’s Adel Hattem.

Artists who wish to apply to perform in front of the world’s leading tastemakers can apply through BIGSOUND’s website. Successful applicants will score a chance to win a share in a $100,000 prize to help them take the next steps in their careers.

The festival will now also include the Music Tech Showcase, a welcome addition to BIGSOUND’s program. “Technology is arguably the biggest influence over today’s music industry, so it’s fitting that BIGSOUND becomes more inclusive of the tech sector.” said QMusic Executive Officer Joel Edmondson. “The new Music Tech Showcase is something we hope establishes itself over time as being as valuable to the tech sector as BIGSOUND’s artist performance opportunities are for emerging musical talent.”

Emerging music tech companies are able to apply to showcase their product prototypes at this year’s BIGSOUND. Successful applicants will also be given a full day of mentoring prior to the festival.

The festival has also added visual arts to this year’s event, with the addition of the Visual Arts Showcase. This year’s additions will see to the expansion of a platform that promotes all sectors of Australian creativity.
