Brisbane Festival Brings You Some Fun in the Tub!

Ratu Lewis

Acrobats in the bath tubIt’s September and that means that the annual Brisbane Festival is upon us. We hope that you guys have been checking out some of the events.

But what we’re holding out for is Soap – The Show! This splish-splash show turns the stage into a bathroom and takes the average singing in the shower performance to new heights. We’re talking about acrobats performing in, on and around bathtubs in a fusion of new circus, comedy and cabaret.

After sell-out houses in Edinburgh, London and Berlin, a successful run at the Sydney Opera House in 2011 and the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2012; we are extremely excited that Soap – The Show is coming to Queensland and is a part of this year’s Brisbane Festival.

This unique theatre comes from Circle Eleven (Germany) and will provide a mesmerizing, steamy and a breath taking night of entertainment.  featuring a mop ballet, a gymnastic performance on a bath ledge, an opera, contortion and a love story between two feet.

The show has a  spectacular display of physicality and water-soaked antics performed to songs by Mika, Sia, Tool, Gnarls Barkley and Curtis Mayfield, directed by Markus Pabst and Maximilian Rambaek, you will leave the show saturated in pure enjoyment. .

Soap-The Show will be playing at the QPAC Playhouse from 18-22 September.

Tickets are between $40-55.

Watch the trailer here and you’ll be as dazzled as us. But if you’re still unsure (even after watching the trailer) that Soap is a show worth seeing; you can catch a free preview this weekend at Brookside Shopping Centre on Saturday and Mt Ommaney Centre on Sunday. Both days will have two performances at 11am and 1pm.

Also don’t miss out on the main events of the festival like Santos GLNG City of Lights, the Courier-Mail Spiegeltent, and of course the spectacular Sunsuper Riverfire. There are also some great events planned for Under the Radar, so don’t forget to check them out too.

The Brisbane Festival will be finishing up on the 28 September, so get to it!
