Brisbane Short + Sweet Festival

| On 21, Aug 2014

It’s that time of year again for Brisbane’s best, brightest, sexiest, smartest and overall talented individuals to flaunt their theatre skills for Brisbane’s fourth annual Short + Sweet Festival.

Short + Sweet provides playwrights and performers, both amateur and established, a chance to show the public what theatrical wonders they can produce all in under 10 minutes.

The festival is without a doubt one of Brisbane’s most exciting theatre events of the year and spans across the last two weekends of August at the Brisbane Powerhouse. This year is set to be bigger and better than ever, featuring over 50 local theatre productions and for the first time, the program includes late-night cabaret performances.

The performances are broken up into strands of 10 plays or seven cabaret acts with each performance being under 10 minutes long. Audience members will be treated to a roller-coaster ride of dramatic pursuits and then get the opportunity to vote for their favourite performance. The top 12 performances will then be showcased at the Gala Final in September.

With a wide array of genres and performance styles on offer, the festival is bound to cater to everyone’s tastes.
