1. Veneziano Coffee Roasters


Tucked away on Montague Street lies a small but wonderful café- Veneziano Coffee Roasters prides themselves on pushing the boundaries in terms of establishing direct trade between the café and its growers, with a range of beans from all Columbia to Ethiopia and everything in between.  With a variety of tastes and textures, the trendy café offers strong, smooth brews as well as subtler blends for the less serious coffee drinker, all tied together with their simple but classic and all-executed food options.

Where: 369 Montague Street, West End QLD 4101

When: 6:30AM – 3PM (Monday to Friday) and 7AM – 2PM (Sat)



2. Blackstar Coffee

Joining the ranks is another West End favourite, Blackstar Coffee Roasters. The café roasts a range of premium beans as well as retailing their own brand of incredibly popular cold press coffee in a variety of milk-based and black options. Roaster Christian Frost tends to the coffee in a 1958 model Probat roaster, bringing customers the finest blend of strong and sweet espresso. The café itself has a chilled out vibe and consequently has become a local hot spot with its easygoing breaky choices.

3. The Woolloongabba Social Club

Warehouse-turned-coffee shop, The Woolloongabba Social Club is one of Brisbane’s best kept secrest. The café is the shop front for Coffee Supreme’s Queensland endeavour and roastery. With the aroma of roasted coffee beans in the air, the café is the perfect place escape from the outside world and appreciate life’s simplicities, in the quiet comfort of the inner suburbs.

What: The Woolloongabba Social Club

Where: 43 Balaclava st, Woolloongabba QLD

When: 7AM – 1PM (Tuesday to Saturday)

4. The Roastery Café

Look no further for your new weekend breakfast spot- The menu at The Roastery Cafe has a wide range of options from Nutella French toast to a Pulled Pork Burrito. Right next door to speciality coffee roastery and coffee providers, Rouge Coffee, The Roastery provides consistently exceptional coffee which is loved by locals. The back laneway has a funky and welcoming vibe, making it a great place to chill out on a Sunday.

Where: 25 Glenelg St, South Brisbane QLD

When: 6:30AM – 3PM (Monday to Friday) and 7AM -2PM (Saturday and Sunday)



5. Elixir Coffee

Jason and David Naciso were born into the coffee business- In the 1980s their mother’s business, Cosmopolitan Coffee, became the first retail roasting house in Queensland. The roasting warehouse is situated right next to the café, which ensures the lingering aroma of roasting coffee will be around to enhance your breaky experience. Stay tuned for a Creative Issue special, in which we’ll interview Jason and David about their lives as coffee connoisseurs.
