Capulet Bar Launches In Fortitude Valley

Lucinda Bayly

Fortitude Valley’s popular nightclub scene has recently welcomed a new resident.  At the dicey end of Fortitude Valley, the space that formerly housed Alloneword has been transformed into a secluded, romantic venue to sneak away from the hustle and bustle at the popular end of the mall.

Walking through the doors of Capulet, I was greeted by velvet booths, draped with white chiffon, to create a private place for a modern day Romeo and Juliet to cuddle up with a cocktail in hand.  Taking a moment to let the realization sink in that I was in the former Alloneword, I continued through to the outside area.  Cue a combination of AstroTurf, fairy-lit gazebos, cornered off with white picket fences and a crooked pathway fit for a fairytale.  The romantic air in the venue is palpable.

A bar that would have been once wildly out of place in Brisbane now fills a gap that the Brisbane night-scene has been eagerly anticipating.  The official launch was held last Wednesday, celebrated

Capulet co-owner and entrepreneur, Leigh Metzeling, has exciting plans for his new venue, with different events happening every night from Thursday until Sunday.  Sure to be a hit is Fashion Fridays, where local designers will be able to showcase their upcoming collections, bringing a touch of romance and sophistication to Brunswick Street.
