Carseldine Markets

| On 19, Jul 2014

As the sun rises later and the temperature drops a few more degrees I greet the cool Saturday mornings with a smile as I wander around Brisbane’s newest charming weekend markets.

The Carseldine Farmers and Artisan Markets located at the old QUT Carseldine campus is a site to behold. Considering it has only been running for just short of a month, this place is buzzing with a refreshing mix of excitement, relaxation and an air of sophistication. With hundreds of stalls selling things from arts and crafts to farm-fresh produce and oh so many food stalls, this is your Saturday morning pick me up.

When you arrive your senses are immediately delighted by a barrage of beautiful sights and smells. Sizzling bacon, gozlemes, morning coffee, sweet pineapples and fresh flowers are all featured.

The market is split into three sections: arts and crafts, fruit and veg and food, each with  its own unique charm. In amongst the wide selection of food stalls is a quaint patch of grass complete with deck chairs and umbrellas. Throughout the market you will come across some extremely quirky signs that not only serve their purpose but also will give you a cheeky giggle!

I bought some beyond delicious rocky road from Kokopod, a small business run by a lovely Brisbane couple who know a thing or two about the magic of a cacao bean. Best of all, they use fine quality Swisse chocolate from a fair-trade company with a focus on sustainability.

I must go back and buy ALL the chocolates!

For a healthier start to the morning, say hello to the fine boys of Blended Smoothies! Tradies by day and avid believers of the organic juices these boys can build your house AND whip you up a refreshing green smoothie… need I say more? There’s gorgeous unwaxed Stanthorpe apples, bacon and egg rolls, barrels full of season veg and bouquet laden pathways of fresh flowers.
