If you haven’t already checked out what’s going down at South Bank for the Brisbane Festival this year, then don’t fret, because there is still time to see the remaining free acts at this years Santos GLNG Twilight Music Series.
A new and exciting series of free live music performances has turned the grassy green of the River Quay into a music festival that will showcase some of Brisbane’s most up-and-coming musicians.
Packing up this Saturday, you can still enjoy some of the free acts from 5-7pm on Thursday and Friday.
Those who have graced the stage for the series, include future-folk and soul artist Ngaaire, the latest winner of Triple J Unearthed Japanese Wallpaper, and local sensation Naomi Price.
On Thursday evening, GL cosmic funk revivalists will be gracing the stage with their endeavour to create the soundtrack to eternal leisure.
On Friday, the cool electronic sounds of Willow Beats an uncle-niece duo, who burst onto the electronic music landscape last year with their massive self-released Alchemy EP, will get you on your feet as they twist and blend their tribal rhythms with lyrics of hope and light, creating a sound that has resonated around the globe.
Brisbane Festival Artistic Director Noel Staunton said he was thrilled to partner with Santos GLNG to deliver a great public event. “We have programmed some of the hottest names in Australian music right now and I am so pleased the public will get to witness their talent, for free, thanks to our longstanding partnership with Santos GLNG,†he said.
The riverbank is the perfect spot to enjoy an evening with free live music and a stunning view of the city.
With Santos sponsoring the show, it’s Vice President for Queensland, Trevor Brown said that, “Queensland is a fantastic place to live and work, and we love seeing Brisbane become even more vibrant during the festival each September.â€
“We’re a proud Australian company and our ongoing support of Brisbane Festival is just one of the ways we’re giving back to the community,” he said.
Why not bring along a picnic and a rug, and sit amongst the city skyscrapers as the sun sets over the Santos GLNG stage.
