Celebrating 10 Years In The Making: Mecca Bah

Last Tuesday, Creative Drinks were invited to attend the celebrations of Mecca Bah’s 10th birthday party where we witnessed the past and present of this Middle-Eastern restaurant as well as a glimpse of  what is yet to come.

Located in the stylish and upmarket Emporium complex in Fortitude Valley, Mecca Bah Brisbane offers their customers a unique fine dining experience that they will never forget through their exotic cuisine and Middle-Eastern drinks.

I spoke with owner Masis Kahramanian, who along with co-owners Garry and Coco Simonian, grew up behind the bar of their family restaurants and therefore developed a passion for fine dining and cuisine. It is with this passion and determination that drove these three men to open a chain of restaurants around Australia.  They wanted to bring their family recipes to Mecca Bah to educate their customers about their country’s cuisine.

In order to keep up with the traditional tastes of the Middle-East and to make sure that quality is assured, they  travel to and from their home countries and bring back new and exciting recipes to further enhance their menu selection.

The staff are well trained and equipped with the knowledge of the menu that they are serving with taste testing every 2 months. Upon speaking to co-owner Masis, he spoke about empowering the frontline staff and educating them on the flavours and authenticity of the Middle-Eastern cuisine and making sure they provide this information to the customer every single visit.

With Mecca Bah being situated in the Emporium Complex, it often not easy to compete with the other amazing restaurants. However Mecca Bah has the advantage of being able to offer a full and most importantly, genuine, middle eastern dining experience through the presentation of their food, aromas, atmosphere, music and service environment.

Mecca Bah’s prestigious reputation exceeds themselves with being the preferred caterer for fashion week which further enhance their appeal and recognition by the community. Their new lunch sets appeal to a wider demographic and are great value for the community. For $16, customers receive a grilled kebab, Imam Bayildi (stuffed eggplants), fragrant pilaff rice with preserved lemon and a salad.

Current restaurant manager, Fallon Gomesz says that the most popular dishes are the Spit Roast Lamb, Rocket, Yoghurt and Sumac Pizza, The Lamb Meatballs with Egg and Spice Tomato Sauce Tangine and the Chocolate and Turkish Delight Brownies. All dishes are Halal Certified.

There are four Mecca Bahs’ situated around Australia including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra and Cairns. Each Mecca Bah guarantees that they will enlighten your senses giving you are beautifully inspired sense of The Middle Eastern spirit, which will set the perfect mood to complete your destination dining experience.
