Gourmet Fresh, the new fresh food precinct, opened on the 24th July as part of the shopping centre’s major redevelopment.

The three demonstrations over the course of the day involved the incorporation of meat and produce from the precinct as Poh cooked up a storm.

Poh, an Australian artist, actress and celebrity chef, was runner-up in MasterChef Australia 2009.

She has since appeared alongside Matt Preston in the World Chef Showcase and has had her own cooking series Poh’s Kitchen with the ABC.

Gourmet Fresh will offer a premium selection of fresh produce from an array of new stores including an artisan butcher, fresh seafood, bakery, delicatessen, green grocer, florist, home wares, cafes, sushi, speciality Asian grocer and more.

An eat-in gourmet delicatessen, French bakery, and renowned yum cha restaurant will also open soon.

Centre Manager, Leah Mienert, said the Gourmet Fresh precinct would offer customers a unique fresh food and dining experience.

“The quality and range of retailers within Gourmet Fresh, coupled with the distinctive aesthetic design and layout of the precinct, is a big step away from the traditional shopping centre food precinct,” Ms Mienert said.

“Many of the stores source produce locally and can offer expert advice to customers on how to prepare, store and serve their produce”.

The $450 million redevelopment of the shopping centre will see the updating of stores such as Myer and Woolworths, and the addition of retailers such as David Jones and 120 speciality stores that will include Australian and international fashion brands.

With the full reopening scheduled for 2014, there will also be a revamp of facilities such as the lifts, food court and over 900 new car parks.
