Cheap eats for the week!

For most of us young student types, eating out is a (very) regular occurrence.
If you’re anything like me, juggling two internships, a part-time job, assignments, a social life and Breaking Bad withdrawals leaves little room for me to go grocery shopping, let alone prepare a healthy meal morning, noon and night.
So here are a few of the most delicious meals I have found for around $10.
I apologise in advance to those of you rockin’ the suburbs – most of these eats are located within a 5km radius of the CBD. Hopefully your rent is cheap enough to allow a more substantial meal plan.
Monday – Dumpling Express, Fortitude Valley. $8.80 for the special.
This hole in the wall dumpling establishment serves up 3 pork/veggie buns, 4 dumplings and a can of drink for only $8.80. A filling and tasty meal that gives you a gold coin in change, what more do you want?
Tuesday – 2-4-1 at Burger Urge West End & Fortitude Valley. $15 for two burgers and chips.
Rumour has it this lifesaving Tuesday dinner is coming to an end in the next few weeks. So grab your friends together and hit up your closest participating Burger Urge now! If you split the bill, your wallet and waistline will thank you.
Wednesday – The Bun Mobile. $8 for a bun
With two trucks now, the Bun Mobile should be coming to a location closer to you. Visiting regular haunts like Green Beacon at Teneriffe and Southside Tearoom at Morningside, this food truck serves up excellent buns for $8. If you’re feeling ritzy, you could even grab a special for $10. Heads up! Be sure to bring cash – the trucks aren’t equipped for eftpos yet!
Thursday – Tipplers Tap, Newstead. 1kg of buffalo wings for $10
Okay so this isn’t going to satisfy any dietary guidelines, but if this isn’t a good value Thursday night feed, I don’t know what is! By Thursday the week’s almost over and if you’re at uni, your weekend will probably begin tonight so what better time to grab some friends (or not), a beer and an obscene amounts of wings to share.
Friday – BYOB, Fortitude Valley. Value Meal $8.90
This infamous restaurant is where your wildest burger dreams can come true. However if you can’t afford your wildest dreams, you can opt for the still satisfying value meal. A standard hamburger, chips and a drink will have you ending the working week on a high note. Also, this will be a good replacement when those 2-4-1 deals run out!
