Chester Street Bakery Turns One

It was one very sweet affair as the late night bakery and bar celebrated its very first birthday.
Chocolate, panna cottas, brownies, champagne, did I mention the chocolate? Last Wednesday the much loved Newstead gem, Chester Street Bakery put on a night of all things sweet.
Chester Street is one of those places that make you feel as if you are arriving at an old friend’s house. The welcoming faces, the cozy corners and the indulgent desserts made with nothing but love, and a little dusting of calories that you totally deserve.
Lemon meringues, choc mint brownies and their iconic hundreds and thousands layer cake are just some of the many things you can treat yourself with underneath the blue lights of this slice of paradise.
As I began to surrender to my food coma I looked around and smiled because all I wanted to do was say thank you to all the geniuses behind the magic, the chefs, the waiters, the bartenders, the designers and of course the great Damian Griffiths. These days I’m a little inclined to start calling him Mr Brisbane. Without him there would be no Kwan Brothers, no Alfred & Constance and certainly no late dessert bar to share with friends.
So, a monstrously huge happy birthday Chester Street, may you live to celebrate many more and may I come along and grow more and more horizontal.
