The month of November is officially upon us nowâ€¦ so does this mean that we can finally start getting excited for Christmas, or at least begin thinking about it? Taking that as a completeÂ â€œYES”, we have combined a list of some funky and creative locations to check out, in the hope thatÂ you’llÂ pick up some wonderful Christmas treasures!
This year, why not try something different for your loved ones? Perhaps something a little more sentimental, or maybe just something completely random and bonkers. If you are looking for the perfect little trinkets – handmade orÂ local – then these places are the answers to your Santa wish list prayers!
Artisan isÂ Queenslandâ€™s Centre for Craft and Design that presents, promotes and celebrates the advancement of authentic and innovative craft and design practice. Working as a non-profit organisation, Artisan builds markets and develops audiencesÂ byÂ acting as a platform for emerging talent and living legends! Ranging from prices of $25 up to $5000, you are sure to find handmade, one off pieces by contemporary designers and artists from all over Australia, including; ceramics, homewares, jewellery, glass work and textiles. THE COLLECTIVE MARKETS
Hosted every Friday – Sunday in the outdoors, the Southbank stalls boast a unique and artistic selection of artisan goods â€“ from eclectic and effortlessly cool fashions, to handmade jewellery, art and stylish homewares. More than 100 local creatives set up shop in the bustling Stanley Street Plaza, with a creative atmosphere of live music strummed by local musicians and christmas decor in the December period! Known as a room full of â€œbeautiful, fun and inspiring thingsâ€, Pigeonhole works to find the zen between vintage and contemporary. They aim to showcase an eclectic range of items that reflect a lifestyle inspired by creativity, design, travel and entertainment. You will discover everything from Polaroids, signs, lightbulbs, socks, cups, and all things simple; but from you to another, it can become a present under the tree thatâ€™s highly meaningful. These are just a few of the shopping categories available at the concept store and retail and event space Showroom, which brings together an ever-changing collection of high quality merchandise from Australianâ€™s popular web-based designers (plus some up and comers too). Located in a beautiful heritage downtown loft on Edward Street, Showroom is a place where creatives and design lovers meet. It is the first Brisbane boutique to offer customers the chance to source the coolest stuff from the web in the real world where they can see it, feel it, and even meet the person who made it. BRISBANE ETSY MADE LOCAL MARKETS
Head to the Brisbane Showgrounds, Exhibition Building on the 19th of November to celebrate the crafters, collectors and artists in the local Brisbane community. Etsy is a marketplace where people around the world connect, both online and offline, to make, sell and buy unique goods, all from independent creative businesses! This year, Brisbane Etsy Made Local will be featuring over 170 Esty sellers, workshops and demonstrations from businesses such as Little Concrete Jungle, Unleash Creative, Coastal Studio, EpiSews, Fox & Fallow, fifteen.five.ten and Holland Eve.
