A medium-rare beef patty. Gooey cheese oozing on top. A ladle of rich tomato jam and a pour of mustard mayo. Throw in some pickles and nestle it all lovingly between the glossiest, softest buns  and there you have burger perfection. Or, should I say, ‘churfection’.
Voted the best burger in Sydney after only being open for six weeks, Chur Burger is coming to Brisbane in late August and shall form the base of the soon to be opened Tryp Hotel in Fortitude Valley. And for the sake of research, I flew down to Sydney to see what all the fuss is about. I wanted to determine whether these burgers are worth another visit in my home town.
Simple answer- chur yeah!
Seriously. Dem chips. When I smelt them soon after walking in, I knew I wanted them in my belly.  These chips are insanely moreish; dusted with chilli salt which ‘pops’ on your tongue, they’re hard to resist!
For a ‘healthier’ (but not really) option there are the sweet potato fries with garlic and lime. These are also delicious and I caught my friend stuffing a handful at a time into his mouth. I’m assuming he rather liked them.
Whilst the sides are almost enough of a reason to visit Chur, the visit would not be complete without a burger and shake.
From pulled pork with BBQ sauce to a crumbed fish finger burger with a cucumber pickle, Chur does it all. Vegetarians are also covered with the spiced chickpea fritter with grated beetroot and honey labne.
But as I am a meat lover at heart, I opted for the classic beef burger with cheese, tomato jam, mustard mayo and pickles. I also added a rasher of bacon. Because I could. The vegetable option can wait for next time.
This burger was amazeballs delicious. No amount of eloquent adjectives will be sufficient to describe this burger. Only amazeballs will do.
The meat was still pink in the middle, making it to be juicy and full of flavour. The tomato jam was an intense hit of sweet tomato and herbs with the tangy, garlicky mustard mayonnaise cutting through. Extra pickles at Macca’s are the best thing ever and Chur’s pickles are long strips of cucumber that added a needed layer of crunch to the burger.
Oh, and did I mention that all burgers are $10? Unreal.
I plan on gymming heavily throughout August because once Chur has opened later this month it’ll be straight back to a tight belt. I shall fast until I can stuff myself with their different burgers and dem chips and shall wash it all down with a shake. Serious churfection.
