Coming soon - new HBO comedy, Silicon Valley

From the makers of Office Space and King of the Hill comes HBO’s latest comedy, Silicon Valley.Â
Silicon Valley is set in, you guessed it, Silicon Valley!
The show follows a group of computer savvy misfits, all living together and trying to make it big in the tech world. A mash-up of sorts between Workaholics, The Inbetweeners and Girls (with boys), Silicon Valley is a highly awkward, yet hilarious coming of age tale.
The show’s leading male is Richard (Thomas Middleditch), an obnoxious, socially stunted yet gifted programmer who’s schlepping away at ‘Hooli’ while a whole bunch of CEOs treat him like dirt. Everything changes when the CEOs find out Richard’s website has the potential to make them filthy rich – so ensues an outrageous bidding war, and a collective messing with Richard’s head. In typical young visionary style, Richard has a large-scale freak-out (cue hilarious scene with a doctor), and then decides to bring his ‘bros’ in on the whole thing, forming their own startup.
The programming world isn’t usually an area that features heavily on TV, but rest assured, Silicon Valley isn’t a how-to guide about coding, but more a comedic take on the crazy nature of the industry itself. If you love rooting for the underdog, or indeed if you just love watching awkward people flailing about in everyday life, you’ll love Silicon Valley.
Silicon Valley hits the US April 6, and premieres in Australia on April 9, 8:30PM on the Comedy Channel.
