Creative Drinks Spring Fling Presents: Alice Nucifora
Melinda Lyons | On 11, Sep 2014
Creative Drinks met up with Alice Nucifora to uncover what inspires her art pieces.
Alice Nucifora, while being a part-time artist is also a full-time student at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and is currently studying a Bachelor of Psychology and Social Work. Other than studying, she enjoys drawing and painting with multiple mediums, with a focus on portraits with surrealistic elements. While this is her passion, she also receives commission for her artwork.
CD: How did you get into art?
Alice: I guess I was always into it. I always liked drawing, even as a kid. I thought it was neat. I got really into it during art classes in high school and it just became my sort of thing.
CD: What inspires you?
Alice: Well, I’m currently studying Psychology and Social Work at university, so at the moment, what really inspires me are social/complex issues. So, like complicated concepts such as Mental Health and then turning it into art.
CD: What is your favourite art piece?
Alice:Â Vincent Fantauzzo’s Heath which won the 2008 People’s Choice Archibald Award.
CD: What do you think of Brisbane’s Creative scene?
Alice: It’s pretty cool. I haven’t been overseas so I have nothing to compare it to really, but compared to Melbourne it is getting there. We are definitely getting there in terms of the creative scene.
CD: If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be?
Alice: I don’t know, there are some pretty cool artists that I follow but not well known ones. So yeah, probably the underdogs of the art scene at the moment.
CD: What is your dream job/future?
Alice: I do really love what I’m studying at the moment. I have been very adamant not to limit myself to just art, or just one area. My dream job would be research with psychology, while having my own art gallery.
CD: What is your favourite TV show?
Alice: I just started watching The Walking Dead and Orange Is The New Black, and they are my favourites at the moment.
CD: Can you give us 3 words you would use to describe your work?
Alice: Realistic, portraits (especially the eyes) and personality.
CD: What are 3 words your friends would use to describe you?
Alice: Creative, loud and intuitive.
CD: Can you come up with a Creative Drink title that best describes you and your art, and then draw your favourite Creative Drink?
