Donut day at Flour & Chocolate
If youâ€™re a bit of a foodie, youâ€™ll know that cronuts are the latest food craze to sweep the globe. You might also be wondering where you can get your greedy little hands on one in Brisbane.
If youâ€™re not a foodie, youâ€™ll probably be wondering what a cronut actually is.
Luckily Iâ€™m here to answer both questions.
Firstly, a cronut is a croissant fused with a donut. It looks a little like this:
Secondly, you can find these delicious concoctions at Flour & Chocolate patisserie in Morningside.
Unfortunately for me, 1pm on Wednesday afternoon meant I was too late to sample the awesomeness that is cronut.
So I opted for the only other logical choice; both a croissant and a donut.
Baked fresh each day using top quality ingredients, it was no surprise that both treats were absolutely delicious.
The chocolate & coconut croissant had a beautiful â€˜crunchy on the outside, light and fluffy on the insideâ€™ texture. It was also filled with a not-too-sweet coconut and chocolate filling.
The jam donut was also delicious and fluffy with a true raspberry jam filling. A.k.a you could see the raspberry seeds and taste the slight tang of real raspberries.
The super friendly staff also informed me that Wednesday & Thursday are specifically â€œdonut dayâ€ giving you more chances to sample flavours like salted caramel, sour cherry and coconut rough.
They also let me know that they are happy for customers to call in advance so they can put some donuts aside to collect later in the day.
Iâ€™ve heard of people driving across town for these artisan pastries, so this option may be particularly valuable if you donâ€™t want to miss out.
