Film Review: Chinese Puzzle
Cathy Dee | On 17, Apr 2014
Life can be complicated, we all know this and so does Xavier Rousseau.
Xavier’s life is turned upside down when his estranged wife Wendy up and announces she is moving to New York, to live with a man she met on a brief visit over there, oh and she’s taking the kids.
After a few months of soul-searching, fathering a child to a lesbian couple along the way, Xavier finds himself on a flight to New York himself. However, perhaps unsurprisingly, things become no less complicated once the plane touches down.
Struggling to get used to his new city, living arrangements and seeing his children, Xavier’s life really does seem like a Chinese Puzzle.
Directed by Cedric Klapisch, Chinese Puzzle (Casse-tete chinois) is a comedic take on modern love and friendship. Starring actors including Audrey Tautou, Romain Duris, Cecile De France and Kelly Reilly this cast works brilliantly to create an engaging and entertaining story.
Overall a touching tale, will be appreciated by lovers of rom-coms and French film buffs.
Chinese Puzzle opens to cinemas on 17 April.
