Now in it’s 17th year and located along one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline Australia has to offer, SWELL outdoor Sculpture Festival is back.

SWELL Sculpture Festival is a not-for-profit arts organisation supported by the Queensland Government and will be turning the entirety of Currumbin beach, at the Gold Coast, into a stunning outdoor art gallery from 13th-22nd September 2019.

The exhibition will span all the way from Currumbin to the iconic Elephant Rocks, a 1km stretch of bold artistic expression that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the natural landscape whilst taking in over 55 unique and thought provoking works of art along the way.

SWELL has become a highly anticipated event on the Gold Coast cultural calendar over the years, not only due to the sculpturally impressive works, but also for the fun, family atmosphere it provides. The sculpture gallery will be complemented by a range of entertainment and activities, such as the SWELL Kids Elements area and a number of adult and child masterclasses to enjoy.

From hand craving to digital works, the artists this year are in the running to share $27,500 in prize money, with the overall winner to receive $15,000 in cash.

This year’s award categories include the SWELL Sculpture Award, Emerging Artist Award, Environmental Awareness Award, Artist Peer Award (voted for by artists), and the People’s Choice, Kids’ Choice and SWELL Smalls Gallery People’s Choice awards (all voted for by exhibition visitors).
