High Demand For Treasury High Tea

Transitioning from the stereotype of a typical outing with grandma, high teas are popping up all over Brisbane, and all generations and genders are loving the traditional high tea experience at The Lab Bar and Restaurant at the Treasury.
The Lab Bar and Restaurant, a part of the Treasury Heritage Hotel on George St, have recruited Executive Chef Steven Jones to develop an exceptional, and traditional, high tea experience, and have greatly succeeded. For $45 between 2:00-3:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays you can indulge in a delectable three-tier assortment of sweet and savoury delights, a selection of teas, and if you so wish, a glass of Moet.
It is a truly elegant and traditional experience, with the Lab Bar adding small touches to make your experience special. Beautiful pink and blue English china patterns, sweet sugar cubes and perfectly executed finger foods make this high tea a step above the rest.
The scones with vanilla bean Chantilly cream and jam, mini salmon quiches and vegetarian frittatas, that rest on the first tier, are a great combination of sweet and savoury, and remind you of the home baked delights you would have with tea at home with grandma.
The assortment of ribbon sandwiches, including chicken, roast beef and horseradish, cucumber and cream cheese, egg and chive, and tomato and swiss cheese are a famous high tea staple, and delicious.
However, the height of this high tea is most definitely the dessert tier, prepared by the Lab Bar pastry chefs. Fruit tarts, meringue tarts, macaroons, swan profiteroles, and the Lab Bar signature espresso japonaise are delicious. The variety of sweet, rich, creamy, bitter and fruity gives a well balanced flavour, and since there are two of each you won’t be fighting with your plus one to try them all.
In traditional high tea form, each tier is meant to be consumed before moving onto the lower one. Thankfully, this is not a rule that is enforced, as it is almost impossible to resist the amazing desserts waiting on the lowest tier.
This high tea truly does have it all, with the location, service, food and tea creating a lovely experience. Whether catching up with friends, or celebrating an engagement or new baby, the Lab Bar high tea will leave you with a beautiful memory.
