Holy Holy's 'History' Single Tour
Georgia Condon | On 04, Oct 2014
Since Timothy Carroll and Oscar Dawson released their first single Impossible Like You last year, Holy Holy has been consistently wowing audiences with their large-scale, complex sound and attention to intricate details.
If you still haven’t checked out one of Brisbane’s best new music venues, The Brightside, Holy Holy will deliver the Brisbane leg of their nine date single tour there- a venue that is definitely suited to their ever-growing fan base.
History follows in this pattern of excellent songwriting, generous production and confrontingly honest delivery makes it another song from the duo that demands your listening attention. Electric guitar builds that lead into sweeping melodies are met with Carrroll’s warm, clear as a bell voice and thundering kick drums, before the track takes a breather with some delicate, Foals-style melodics.
After a packed Bigsound showcase, at which they went above and beyond most other artists in terms of quality and scale, Holy Holy embarked on a support role with Boy and Bear, including a show at the Sydney Opera House.
The work of Carroll and Dawson, described by every possible combination of ‘rock’, ‘country’, ‘alt’ and ‘folk’, Holy Holy also features a collection of seriously accomplished and regarded musicians doing their thing; Graham Ritchie on bass (who also plays with, among others, Airling), Ryan Strathie formerly of Hungry Kids of Hungary dealing with percussion, and (at least for their Bigsound showcase) producer Matt Redlich on keys.
Following what will surely be a successful single tour, Holy Holy will once again hit the road to support The Preatures, currently an extremely covetable combination of artists.
With so many opportunities coming up to catch Holy Holy, there’s no excuse to miss them weaving their musical magic that will no doubt continue to raise the bar for Australian musicians.
