Light Up: A Short Film Festival
Are you looking to discover the films of South-East Queensland’s most promising creators?
Are you yourself an up-and-coming filmmaker looking to meet like-minded people? Are you looking for a fun-filled evening of film, activities and glow sticks?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Light Up Film Festival may be the place you want to be this Thursday the 23rd of May.
The Light Up Film Festival, being held at Reading Cinemas in Newmarket, is the first festival hosted by the Slop Shack; a media company whose greatest ambition is to assist all types of creators in pursuing their artistic dreams and living out their passions. You may know them from their podcast ‘Movies Are The Future,’ or from their work with the local artist ‘Bad Vibes,’ creating their music video ‘Cosmopolitan.’
The Light Up Film Festival was organised to offer creators a platform to showcase their talents. When discussing their motivation for organising the festival, representatives from the Slop Shack said, ‘Light Up captures our vision in that it will be a place where creators can get together and celebrate the collective work, study and passion.’ Although this is the one-year-old company’s first festival, they will stop at nothing to ensure the festival is meaningful and magical for everyone involved.
On the night, expect to see all types of different films: shorts, experimental films, video essays, documentaries, vlogs or music videos of all different genres. So, come along to meet other passionate creators and film fanatics, watch some great films and have fun!
