Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival 2017: Artist lineup
Lena Owen | On 17, Jul 2017
The Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival returns this year with a jam-packed day to liven up your August. Featuring a range of bands and visual artists, the festival showcases local talent and the thriving creative scene in Queensland.
Artists from a range of mediums and genres will provide the visual counterpoint to the music of the day. Typographical elements and balance come to play with works of Rick Hayward, one half of the Frank and Mimi duo, and abstract concepts in the works of painter Thom Stuart. The first public showing of the Sepik Totems will be at the Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival. The five totems were carved by artists from the Sepik River for the Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation building.
Graphic designers and visual artists Conrad Square and Beastman bring their bold works to the festival. Lucas Salton working in the area of digital media will bring the giant spider concept to the festival. Photography and lighting are covered with the works of Bonnie Jenkins and Design Lab vs Tiamco.
Tattoo aficionados can appreciate the history of the ink with Rhys Gordon’s Behind the Lines exhibition at the Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival. The Sydney based tattoo artist is bringing the photography, history and demonstrations together for a showcase of tattoo art.
Wintercroft is on board for the festival, bringing craft to your face. An updating of the paint by numbers concept for the contemporary age, Beautiful Masks, Made by You provides the instructions to create your own 3D mask. Thanks to the creative concepts of Wintercroft, we can finally be a unicorn when we grow up. Styling and decoration up to your individual artistic persuasion. Be sure to crank it up as Wintercroft himself will be judging the competition for craftiest mask wearer.
