Melbourne Brunch: Ascot Food Store

Sitting outside on a warm day in Melbourne at this corner café we are showered with menus and table water. Ascot Food Store is on a busy road in Moonee Ponds but still holds a peaceful and friendly atmosphere.Â
First to catch my eye is the ‘Cheesecake Milkshake’ which I order, along with corn fritters with a side of avocado and goats cheese. The menu at Ascot Food Store is filled with intersting options, where for someone fussy like myself, you don’t really know what will arrive on your plate when it shows up! However, when my meal did show I was very impressed and it tasted just as good as it looked.
Generously sized corn fritters with just the right amount of avo smash was the perfect light brunch meal. The cheesecake milkshake, although a naughty option was equally as yummy but maybe not as light as my meal.
As well as food options, Ascot Food Store is famous for their flavoured doughnuts in which you can inject fillings with a syringe. The specailty on that day was raspberry filling or lemon meringue, both looking equally as delicious.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed the atomosphere, service and my meal at the Ascot Food Store. Put this one on your brunch ‘to eat at’ list!
