More and More Montaigne
Jessica Cerro, otherwise known by her moniker ‘Montaigne‘, has had an enviable career by anyone’s standards. A Triple J Unearthed High Finalist while still in high-school, Montaigne kicked off her career in 2014 by signing a record deal and dropping two hit singles.
Since that point she has been constantly reaching new heights, supporting heavyweight Australian artists such as San Cisco and Megan Washington, dropping her first album (the appropriately named Glorious Heights), and then subsequently touring as a headlining act. In 2016, she won the ARIA Award for best breakthrough artist, and her songs have been on consistent high rotation on Triple J.
Montaigne is far from resting on her laurels, however. The Sydney songstress is taking Australia by storm right now, dropping a new single, ‘Ready’, announcing her new album Complex, and prepping for a massive international tour come November. The Complex album tour (presented by Triple J) will be kicking off in Adelaide on November 7th, then moving through Perth, Fremantle, Maroochydore, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Bendigo, Torquay, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, and finishing up in Wollongong on November 30.
Montaigne has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket goes to support Bush Heritage Australia a national non-profit organisation conserving biodiversity in Australia.
Montaigne has been hailed as a talented live performer, with a unique theatrical and emotional performance style that leaves audiences cheering.
The Creative Issue is going to be keeping up with all the latest from Montaigne, so watch this space.
Come late August we’ll be sitting down with Montaigne to talk about her inspirations, plans for the future, and the general silliness of life. The when she hits Brissy we’ll be reviewing her sure-to-be banger of a show.
