Movies Any Fashionista Would Love

Rather watch Fashion TV than the family fun flick this Friday night? Think again, our line up of fashionable flicks will have even the most elegant reaching for some popcorn.
They give a cinematic experience that allows people to delve outside of reality and into a fictional world, something they have dreamt of or quite the opposite. Movies give us an escape, and when holiday time hits, sometimes its nice to enter another character’s life for a couple of hours. To end your holidays I recommend watching these classic fashion movies so that you can disappear from everyday life, and enter the glamorous and not so glamorous world that any fashionista is itching to be apart of.
1. The Devil Wears Prada
Everyone knows this movie and has probably watched it before, but I feel like it is definitely one of those movies that you can watch over and over and find a hidden treasure in a one-liner somewhere that you had never noticed before. Starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, this movie is the ultimate comical yet relatively factual account on the the magazine industry, but of course with a classic makeover seen and a few hunky male leads.
2. The September Issue
Looking for something on the other end of the spectrum, The September Issue is an extremely interesting doco that follows Anna Wintour and the entire Vogue America team as they put together their September Issue of Vogue. I found this movie not only thought provoking, but also able to shine new light on the industry. Delving into less known members of the Vogue editorial team also supplied a hilarious account at their view of the editor-in-chief. This is definitely a movie to watch when you are feeling inspired and fashion ready.
3. Coco Before Chanel
Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel plays a pivotal role in the evolution of modern fashion, so any movie based on her life, is a must-watch for me. The story follows Coco who works as a seamstress and a cabaret entertainer. The movie takes a different light, as it still allows for the romantic storyline to shine through making it a fun and easy watch. Even if the movie is a bit slow, you will still enjoy the fashion. I certainly did.
4. Valentino: The Last Emperor
From naked models draped in fabric, to packs of pug dogs flying on a private jet, Valentino: The Last Emperor is a fly on the wall insight into the life of one of the great fashion designer. Not only a film for fashionista’s this beauty will have everyone wanting more. Finding a touching love story hid between glamorous folds creates a good few hours to spend on the lounge.
