Never ending courses at Melba, Langham Hotel

Never ending courses at Melba, Langham Hotel

| On 25, Nov 2014

Melba restaurant is the fine dining restaurant of the famous Langham hotel in Melbourne. Located in Melbourne’s Southbank, a popular tourist and locals destination alike. Dinner is served as a buffet at Melba with a wide variety of choices to satisfy everyone’s taste buds.

Planning ahead for my visit to Melba, I only ate a light lunch to keep myself hungry for the dinner I was about to have. Upon arriving my girlfriend and I were seated by a very helpful waitress who quickly explained the process of the buffet.

The first course began with antipasti; an extensive selection of cheeses, cold meats, marinated olives, fresh bread and salad were presented in front of us. This course had so much selection, if I had two stomachs I could’ve eaten myself silly but I knew I had to save myself for the rest of this feast!

Next for another small entrée, a small plate of pasta, made to my liking by the chef behind the pasta station. Penne with Neapolitana sauce (extra sauce and extra Parmesan for me).

My favourite of the night was the Indian food, especially the freshly made naan bread which the chefs make for you behind the indian station, adding any ingredients you like. My option was spinach and cheese. Accompanying the naan bread was Indian style rice, tandoori chicken and butter chicken which were both to die for!

Already feeling like a food baby was beginning to form I slowed it down and now watched my girlfriend tackle the seafood station, while I enjoyed my strawberries and cream cocktail. Melba offered a wide selection of fresh seafood from oysters to crab. Our waitress even assisted us in how to get all the meat out from the crab.

Then for the most important course of the night, dessert! The dessert section at Melba is filled with the most amazing cakes, ice cream, fruits and even a chocolate fountain. A popular selection for dessert was also Indian naan bread made with chocolate and M&Ms! Add ice cream to this and Melba has given you the perfect dessert!

Melba is the perfect place for a romantic dinner for two or a big group heading out for a special occasion. If it’s not dinner your into, they also serve a breakfast buffet, lunch and, high tea, next on my list!
