New App to Help Brisbane’s Hospitality Scene

New App to Help Brisbane’s Hospitality Scene
Anna Kenny

Take the confusion out of finding great takeaway food and coffee amid COVID-19 by downloading this app.

Support local, order direct, buy gift cards—these are a few things we’ve heard on repeat over the past couple of crazy months. But if we are honest, staying up to date with all the changes is kind of daunting.

Luke Kingdon’s Support Brissy app is designed to help the struggling hospitality industry by providing us with up-to-date information on who is open and what they are offering. This means no more sifting through search engines and social media.

Luke says, “I thought it would be particularly helpful as there is a lot of useless information on operating hours of venues currently. This is my way of giving back!”

This is what we love about Luke’s vision. While we adore Bopple, Skip, Hungry Hungry and other mobile order/delivery businesses that have stepped up to help our favourite venues shift to takeaway pick-up and delivery spaces, there is something magical about Luke’s community spirit and generosity.

Support Brissy is not a delivery service or a business, it’s by the people and for the people. As a local himself, and of course a food lover, Luke just wants to serve his community.

Luke says, “I’m currently running this out of pocket, so if you enjoy the app and want to buy me a coffee, I’d be more than appreciative”.

Luke admits that the app is far from perfect and he needs our help.

Many venues have already jumped aboard by listing their opening hours and services—home delivery, pick-up options, family and frozen meals, alcohol delivery, gift cards, and more.

But there are still many missing businesses.

Luke says, “The bigger this gets, the more we can help each and every venue around Brissy”—and help ourselves find delicious food and coffee.

Foodies and business owners can submit new listings or comment on existing ones to share the latest information with fellow Brisbanites.

Luke says, “We need a landslide of support to ensure this tool becomes a beacon for our local community”.

Support Brissy is easy to use. It supplies venue contact details to make direct ordering more accessible, cutting out third-party delivery, giving venues 100% of the profit. And you can search for venues you know or filter your searches by location.

Let’s do our part to ensure our community is standing strong when we find ourselves at the other end of this pandemic.

Every coffee counts.
