New Cocktail Menu at BlackBird Bar & Grill

After previously being an avid Black Bird fan (read the story here) I was thrilled to be asked to review their new cocktail menu.
Naturally, like any normal alcohol-loving adult, I quickly replied with a keen yes!
Heading in on a Sunday, I was greeted by a lovely staff member who ushered us to our own private booth which overlooked the bar and the Brisbane River. We were given our menus and left to peruse the endless cocktail list. It was so hard to choose which one to try first as all of them sounded delectable in their unique way. We started off with The Admirals Blood Punch and The Jazzed Up Sidecar.
These cocktails should come with a warning sign as they pack a punch from the first sip. The Jazzed Up Sidecar was the perfect consistency of sour and sweet with flavours of the orange sherbet and lemon juice complementing  the vanilla sugar rim. The presentation of these cocktails were perfection and left my tastebuds wanting more.
After feeling the effects of these cocktails already we decided it was time to order some food. We tried the Waygu Beef and Double Smoked Bacon Buger with Green Tomato Pickles and the Infierno Grilled Black Angus Minute Steak with fries and chopped salad which also came with Kampot Pepper.
The steak was cooked to perfection, was easy to pull apart and was very juicy. BlackBird also takes pride in having fresh and local seafood including a Iced Shellfish Platter and a “Bay Bug Club” Sandwich listed on their menu.
Other new cocktails include:
- Excuse Me, My Whiskey is Sour- This cocktail was served in a goblet and was quite different to the other cocktails we tasted. It had a rather nutmeg/walnut finish and was perfect for the cold weather.
- Mexican Monk- If you like tangy and lime mixed together then this cocktail is for you. Perfect for a summery day near the river.
- The Hoofer- The Hoofer comes in a tall glass garnished with mint and a pineapple wedge. Some of the flavours that can be tasted are coconut, pineapple, ginger beer and passion fruit.
- The Bees Knees- This cocktail really is the Bee’s Knee’s. Mixed with burnt honey, orange syrup and fresh lime, this flavour combination will leave you begging for more.
To everyone that has not been to BlackBird yet, now’s the perfect time to grab your nearest friend and try a deliciously unique cocktail and scrumptious food menu.
