If you still haven’t checked out the newest addition to the array of cool venues in Newstead, The Triffid, their new Triffid Roots sessions are a great introduction.
Featuring a mix of up-and-coming and more established artists like Sahara Beck, Hannah Rosa, Garret Kato and Neighbour, Triffid Roots happens every week and provides the perfect accompaniment to a cold beer from their outdoor bar, for free!
Hosted by the lovely Sarah Howells of Triple J’s Roots ‘n All program, Triffid Roots bring the best of blues, roots, folk, contemporary jazz, soul, reggae and world music to the table- genres destined to extend weekend enjoyment as close as possible to Monday morning.
You can be assured that Powderfinger’s John Collins, The Triffid’s owner and conceiver, has created a venue that lends itself to a variety of musical experiences, with Triffid Roots being a casual, open way to experience music from Brisbane artists and beyond.
While mainstage shows at The Triffid show off the venue’s cool, historic hangar space, Triffid Roots is a chance to enjoy the outdoor, pop-up styled beer garden- the perfect place to kick back given this past week’s dramatic swing towards warmer afternoons.
Supporting emerging artists is so important, and who could say no to a free show and cold beers?
