New Jelly Watermelon Hits Harajuku Gyoza

New Jelly Watermelon Hits Harajuku Gyoza

| On 12, Aug 2016

“Open, please pull, door heavy like sumo.”

After the last craze Harajuku Gyoza caused with the raindrop cake that saw Instagram flooded with pictures of what looked like giant dew drops, Harajuku Gyoza have introduced another novel treat for those with a sweet tooth; jelly watermelon.

Already causing a stir on Instagram, the jelly watermelon is set to be the next raindrop cake- literally. At first glance, it is easy to mistake this new dessert for a slice of refreshing watermelon. The twist is that this watermelon slice, though just as refreshing, comes with a sweeter bang on the taste buds.

Watermelon juice is filtered to remove any pulp, set with gelatine in a real watermelon rind, and dotted with chocolate to create a visually deceiving watermelon slice. The jelly watermelon is currently available at Harajuku Gyoza stores in the CBD (Albert Lane), Fortitude Valley, Indooroopilly, and Southbank. Priced at $10 for a regular slice or $12 for a vodka infused jelly watermelon (only available at the Fortitude Valley restaurant).

Though you have to make it though the sumo-weight doors, once inside the bright lanterns, delicious gyoza, cold beer and now, jelly watermelon will be the perfect reward! Keep in mind though that this watermelon slice is considerably sized, so it is best to share if eaten after a hearty meal; otherwise, gobble one up all by yourself!
