New Menu at Pony Dining

The location perfect, the space beautiful and the food comforting, Pony Dining on Eagle Street Pier has a new menu.
Pony is the restaurant you go to if you are looking for a relaxed yet sophisticated riverfront affair. The menu options are great for sharing, ranging from their ‘big plates’ of pork belly, roast duck and sous vide chicken breast. There’s the open planned kitchen where diners can admire spirited chefs serve up honest, uncomplicated food.
Interestingly, Pony’s new menu is rather fusion in flavour ranging from classic jamon and manchego croquettes to Asian inspired dishes of shiitake mushroom gyoza and a delicate seared tuna with smoked tofu, dashi jelly and edamame. The gyoza was not the best I had but the presentation was adorable. If you like a bit of fusion in your life the new menu should catch your eye.
A highlight of the night had to be the double baked soufflé with romesco, fire roasted hazelnuts and figs. The texture of the soufflé was so light and the flavours were a perfect marriage.
The new dessert menu is a thing of beauty. A hark back to the 1970s with a gorgeous bombe Alaska. Or if meringue and ice-cream don’t take your fancy, there’s the Mille feuilles tatin or coconut and raspberry macarons. The desserts kept coming with raspberry filled mini donuts and a cherry clafoutis packed with that real cherry flavour some desserts can sometimes miss.
With wood fired dishes and a cosy atmosphere, Pony is well worth a try. Expect comforting dishes and a great meeting place spent with good company.
