Birrarung Marr has once again transformed into Melbourne’s Night Noodle Market. Presented by Citi, the market returns to mark Good Food Month, to treat the tastebuds of Melbournians.
The tasty delights of the Night Noodle Market kicked off on November 12 and will be running until November 29. The market is open to the public from 5pm onwards on week days and 2pm onwards on weekends with a free entry to all- so there’s no excuse for not trying something new and exciting!
The annual event is becoming better and bigger every year, with Melbourne’s Good Food Month creative director Gemima Cody saying, “every year the markets get bigger, bolder and brighter. Never have there been so many noodles or so much Nutella-on waffles, in dumplings- it’s everywhere and never have Melbourne diners been so ready to take to the streets”.
The market this year holds 57 food stalls with the best local and interstate venues showcasing their wares, including cultural foods such as, Indian, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese and Thai. There is a big variety of food at the night noodle market and many other treats and spectacles on offer, including cooking star Diego Munoz on November 27 and New York’s famous ice cream shop, Big Gay Ice Cream, in attendance. Together with the local favourite Gelato Messina, the two will sell a special Big Gay Ice Cream treat.
To alleviate post-dumpling guilt, the charity FareShare are showing their support at the noodle market by standing with a charity trolley, hoping to receive as many donations from people in return for a classic fortune cookie!
Last, but not least, all market goers are given the chance to vote for their favourite stallholder for a chance to win a $250 dining experience every month for a year-Â For two weeks in November Birrarung Marr is the place to be for a fun and tasty night out- with a few surprises thrown in to keep things interesting.
