Online shopping: spend money without ever having to get out of bed!

Up until this year, I had always been relatively sceptical of buying anything online. I would generally only trust and use those that my friends had personally used and vouched for. However, this year I have become an addict. There is something about buying an item of clothing online that affords you a tad less guilt. It is almost “out of sight, out of mind” mentality – I never seem to regret the purchase because I don’t immediately have to look at the item, and by the time it arrives, the pinch of pocket is forgotten.

Online shopping has, as such, become a happy yet slippery slope. I have compiled a list of some of my favourite online boutiques that combine affordable items with current trends and reasonable shipping costs!

1. Gary Pepper Vintage
“The Gary Pepper girl is really one of a kind”

This online boutique is one of the most well known names in the vintage world, producing bags, shoes, accessories, and their own clothing label. Owner Nicole Warne, developed the company in 2005, and has since travelled the world sourcing vintage pieces. Gary Pepper is the perfect place to find one of a kind affordable items.

2. Nasty Gal
“Who is a Nasty Gal? We like to think of her as the coolest girl in the room‚ pulling off whatever wildly unique piece that suits the mood”

Nasty Gal has become a global online destination for fashion-forward, free-thinking girls. Developed by Sophia Amoruso in 2006, this site is my number one stop when sourcing an outfit for any occasion. There is a combination of vintage and contemporary upcoming designer items, however I don’t find that it offers a huge range of vintage. While the items range from sale as low as $20, there are some big ticket items going for up to $400.

3. Pixie Market
“Whatever your look, Pixie Market has everything you need to make a style statement”

Pixie Market is a great online shopping destination, offering midrange priced items. Stocking brands such as Oneteaspoon, Cameo, Shakuhuchi, Mink Pink, Matiko and Sass and Bid…this is basically my heaven condensed into a few pages.

4. Style Tread
“Regardless of who you are or what you are looking for, at Styletread we hope to make your shoe dreams a reality”

Shoes, shoes, shoes, shoes, shoes, shoes…(deep breath)…SHOES SHOES SHOES! I don’t know any girls that aren’t obsessed with shoes. Flats, heels, platforms, boots, wedges… Style Tread offers every option. As someone who has very small feet and struggles to find my size anywhere, this site was a huge treat.

5. Lucy in the Sky
“Lucy in the Sky has her head in the clouds and her feet off the ground. Don’t try and tame her, this girl doesn’t follow the rules, she sets them. Although she doesn’t crave attention, her wardrobe demands it”

This site offers a really great stock in the latest trends. With items as cheap as $15 yet rarely higher than $70, Lucy in the Sky ensures you will find something affordable for any occasion. Lucy in the Sky also offers free overnight shipping for orders over $20, which is a huge benefit when rushing to find a last minute outfit.

6. E s t h e r
“Who is Esther…an ancient queen, renowned for her beauty and kind heart, who risked her life to save a nation. Encapsulation elegance and kindness, Esther reflects that beauty is more than skin deep – it is a light that comes from the heart, a humble and generous spirit”

Esther is one of my favourite online stores, as while it stocks contemporary styles, they differ from the mainstream representations. The looks tend to be a little more edgy, and higher quality. While providing a lot of formal and night out items, there is a lot more casual and wearable items that retain the same trendiness.
