Laura Webster | On 18, Feb 2014
The 2013/2014 season of Palace Opera and Ballet brings some of the best international productions right to our doorstep.
This year’s program at the Barracks cinemas consists of productions from The Royal Opera House, The Royal Ballet and Opera National de Paris, taking you to the faraway landscapes of Asia, Egypt and the far west of the Americas.
The season will open with Bellini’s, The Puritans, telling the tale of impossible love in 17th Century Plymouth, England.
With some of the most poignant and beautiful vocal writing, this is a must see for opera lovers.
Closing the season in August is La Traviata, Verdi’s masterpiece which gives immortality to the French novel Dame aux camellias. This piece is said to give one of the repertoire’s most striking portraits of a woman.
Other productions include The Sleeping Beauty from the Royal Ballet, Mozart’s Don Giovanni from the Royal Opera and The Winter’s Tale from the Royal Ballet.
With all productions captured live and screened in high definition, it will be just like sitting front row at an international theatre.
In the comfort of the Barracks lounge-like seats, this is the new way to experience world class opera and ballet in Brisbane.
The pirouettes and prima donnas are calling so book tickets now.
