Plates Of Colour At Brisbane's Best Farmers Markets
Giulietta Avenia | On 19, Jan 2015
The Jan Powers Farmers Markets have started up their 2015 season and are bringing beautiful, fresh and colourful produce to Brisbane.
The team behind the markets is calling on South East Queenslanders to make their plates a canvas and use locally grown fruit and vegetables as the colour.
“January is the perfect time to begin new habits, and buying locally grown produce could potentially be the best habit you could ever adopt,†said Sammy Power. “We want people to have fun with fresh food; we want them to see the colours of the rainbow and taste the flavours within each and every bite.â€
“Flavour those New Year’s Resolutions with the colours of South East Queensland, and feel great at the same time; … we say welcome 2015 with Plates of Colour.â€
Summer is one of Australia’s most colourful seasons with berries of every size and shape bursting with flavour, cherries that are ripe for the picking and all our favourite fruits; mangos, peaches, oranges and grapes. Eat them straight from the fridge, create a dessert or have them as a not-so-guilty midnight snack, whichever way you like to enjoy your fruit, the Jan Powers Farmers Markets can satiate all your cravings.
Or, if your cravings lean more towards the vegetables, the Jan Powers Farmers Markets have you covered. Whether it’s buckets overflowing with fresh herbs or a stall filled with miniature capsicums and chillis of every colour, there’s something for everyone.
There’s even more reason to celebrate with the Powerhouse markets now taking place every Saturday and the Manly markets taking place on the first and third Saturdays of each month. No more fortnightly waits for our fix of fresh produce, with the doubling of the markets, we can also double our enjoyment of Mother Nature’s harvest!
So get your shopper bags at the ready and prepare to enjoy every colour of the rainbow with fresh, seasonal produce.
