Attention! Are you a poor uni student struggling to find fun, affordable things do to on your weekends? Do you like music? Are you cool? If you answered yes to any, all, or none of these questions, then Popalicious is the event for you!

QUT’s innovative school of music students have teamed up with the Brisbane Powerhouse to deliver Popalicious, a once-a-month gig that showcases Brisbane’s aspiring student musicians.

Intrigued? Well if that doesn’t tickle your fancy maybe the part about it being FREE will!

This Saturday from 5pm you can “pop” in and enjoy some sweet indie tunes all the while supporting Brisbane’s up and coming artists.

Four piece Brisbane band Hushka are this month’s headline act; fresh from a tour supporting old time Kiwi favourites Evermore. Forming half way through 2012, Hushka is made up of Jack Paterson, Jason Morris, Darren Lau and Luke Woollett. The guys have been likened to the sounds of Kings of Leon, Coldplay and The Killers, and currently working on their EP which will be released later this year.

So if this weekend you find yourself sitting at home, chilling with your cat and watching reruns of Laguna Beach…all I have to say is stop! Immediately! Go and see some sweet indie music and feel free to leave your wallet at home!
