Queensland Wine Week
Alicia Moo | On 30, Mar 2014
Craving for a glass of good tipple? Well you are in luck. The second annual Queensland Wine Week begins Monday.
Next week come along and celebrate everything beautiful about Queensland wines from the vine, paddock and kitchen garden. Last years’ event was a small personal journey with bloggers and businesses tipping their hats to local wines but this year brings a bigger and better week for a deliciously smooth friend.
Whether it is attending any of the several events for the sole purpose of drinking a good red or supporting the Queensland wine industry any experienced connoisseur enthusiast, amateur or social addict can be a part of next week’s celebrations. There are free and paid events happening all over town so all there’s left to do is to pick your choice of poison.
Here are just some of the many events on offer:
Tasting of over 25 Queensland wines at John Mills Himself, Brisbane City.
Tasting at The Golden Pig with wines from Golden Grove, Ridgemill Estate and Bent Road Winery with food served at each tasting station. $85 pp.
Queensland Wine Week Gala at GoMA – dinner and matching wines $160 pp.
Day trips to the Granite Belt for $85 the trip includes lunch at Ballandean Estate’s Barrel Room Cafe (not included in the ticket price) and tasting experiences at Ballandean Estate, Twisted Gum Wines, Symphony Hill and Ridgemill Estate.
Clovely Estate will be opening their doors serving up their South Burnett wines at their City Cellar Door (210 Musgrave Rd, Red Hill) alongside delicious street food fare. Tickets are $29 pp which includes all food for the evening.
There are also several bars and restaurants involved who will be pouring Queensland wines all week including Public, Aria, Esquire, Super Whatnot, Ecco and more.
So join in, get a little inebriated and tip your hat to thank one of Queensland’s best home grown talent – wine.
